We are already looking forward to the 2020/21 junior cricket season.
Online registrations are open for the season. You can register here: https://registrations.crichq.com/register/251376. The committee has elected to hold subs at the same level as the previous year. We recommend that players / parents enroll for Spring Training and the regular cricket season presently as once your details are in CricHQ it makes the communication and planning for the season much easier.
Due to the delayed winter-sport season, cricket will be starting several weeks later than usual this year. The first day of junior cricket for the season will be Saturday 14 November 2020 and the last day will be Sunday 28 March 2021. The last weekend for 2020 will be 19/20 December and the first weekend for 2021 will be 23/24 January.
We are delighted to secure the coaching services of Akash Sivan for the season. Akash plays for our Premier Men’s side and ran many of the coach-the-coaches sessions in 2019/20. He will be repeating this coaching alongside new lead roles for our entry-level Nursery grade, Spring Training for hard-ball cricketers, and - finishing his Master’s degree permitting - the Cricket Wellington “CW” schools program. For hard-ball cricketers (Years 5 to 8), we have the opportunity of pre-season Spring Training. The one-hour weekend sessions run from 12/13 September to 17/18 October (not including 3/4 October).
*** PLEASE NOTE: ALL SPRING TRAINING PLACES FOR THE 2020/21 SEASON ARE NOW SOLD OUT. ***
On 19 September we intend to hold an open day and gear swap at the clubrooms from 10.00AM – 12.00PM. This is an opportunity for parents to pass on gear that is still in reasonable condition to the club. We will build this into a ‘toy library’-like set up where the club will lend out and in turn receive back kit for the season. We expect that by the time they reach hardball most Collegians players will own at least most of their personal kit. We also want to reduce the size of the team bag by limiting it to team gear (e.g., stumps, boundary flags and a minimum amount of kit – largely for the wicket keepers). We will work together with other Wellington clubs to donate any surplus to places where it will have the greatest impact.
We also have Collegians hoodies available to purchase this year - both for players and their parents! These are black with gold under the arms and of a similar style to the Collegians senior club Men’s and Women’s version. There is a space on the back for the person's name (either first, second or nickname at your discretion). You can order these through the registration process on CricHQ, but there are more details here.
At this stage we are anticipating the Hawke's Bay cricket camps will go ahead as normal. The dates for 2020/21 and the latest details are here: https://www.facebook.com/hbcricketcamps
